Aims and Responsibilities

The Mission and Vision of IAYC

Affiliated with the Cardiovascular Academy Society (CAS), the International Academy of Young Cardiologists (IAYC) is a non-profit global organization founded to unite young cardiologists from all over the world. IAYC is a volunteer-led medical society for cardiologists under the age of 45. The international group of CAS was first Established in 2018 as International Young Academy of Cardiology (IYAC). Subsequently, it was renewed in October, 2021 and renamed as IAYC.

IAYC is dedicated to make cardiovascular science accessible to all young cardiologists worldwide, while advancing innovations in the field of cardiology to fight against cardiovascular disease. To accomplish this mission, the IAYC provides its members opportunities to network, access the latest technology, and support their ongoing professional growth.

IAYC values education by organizing online and onsite congresses, courses and postgraduate programs in collaboration with world-renowned cardiovascular organizations. The annual congress of IAYC is held during the CAS congress in September. Simultaneously, IAYC pioneers multi-national, independent, unbiased clinical research trials to understand and reduce the burden of cardiovascular diseases.

 

Board Members

The role of IAYC Board is to provide oversight and guidance on all matters concerning IAYC, including educational plans, programs, studies, publishing papers, organizing congresses and cardiovascular activities and workshops in all perspectives of cardiology and cardiovascular diseases.

The IAYC Steering Board Committee consists of elected representatives of IAYC members from various countries and regions. The primary function of the Steering Board Committee is to guide the development and expansion of iayc, review membership structure, and to recommend new programs and initiatives in educational way to reduce burden of cardiovascular diseases on international scale.

The IAYC board conducts its meetings on regular basis via web conferencing.

The president of each congress/activities of IAYC is a different board member of IAYC. The selection is made by the coordinator, according to the contribution to the event. The president then is responsible for that particular event.

The Board members of the IAYC in this capacity shall:

  • Be committed to the mission, goals and policies of the organization.
  • Perform the functions and work of the board to the best of one’s ability.
  • Seek financial support from others outside of the IAYC
  • Promotes interest and active participation in the Association on the part of the membership and reports activities of the Board committee to members by means of letters, publications or speeches
  • Developing and maintaining both internal and external networks within IAYC both on national and international levels.
  • Be knowledgeable about the IAYC, the services it provides
  • Become knowledgeable about the work of the committee.
  • Develop and implement programs that will successfully educate and teach cardiologists and physicians through workshops, congresses, and scientific meetings.
  • Responsible for marketing issues on international level and back in their countries of origin.
  • Recommend to the board committee a list of qualified individuals who could become members of the IAYC to contribute substantially to the organization in other capacities (such as talented cardiologists who are prominent in the societies of cardiology).
  • Board members will be involved in a continuous process of seeking, identifying and reviewing prospective candidates to be IAYC members, hence Nomination of new members in IAYC.
  • Provide assistance and support for the board committee.

Responsibilities of the Members

  • Conducting clinical research and training activities to prevent and relief of cardiovascular diseases.
  • Contributing to the education, congress, publication and scientific activities of the CAS and IAYC.
  • Establishing network with global nonmembers to nourish IAYC.
  • Cooperating with similar international organizations
  • Producing scientific projects and / or research in the field of cardiovascular diseases.

Terms of Office: 2 years

Size (members) of the board: 9 members

The IAYC member can only serve two years consecutively as a board member.

The Coordinator of the IAYC is an official board committee member with the following capabilities:

The coordinator is appointed by the Society of Cardiovascular Academy for a period of 2 years, provides communication between IAYC and CAS. The coordinator is responsible for supervising IAYC activities on behalf of the CAS, and is entitled to vote for each decision equally with other IAYC members. He/she is a primary spokesperson for the organization, approves budgets of IAYC, and shall maintain stability and integrity of the board committee members. He/she is responsible for ensuring equality among members.
